Frequently Asked Questions

Installing roller doors for shipping containers is almost identical to installing roller doors anywhere else. However, a professional will need to cut an opening beforehand so that you can safely add a doorframe and the door. Our doors are available in custom sizes on request, ensuring the perfect fit to suit your container.

Installing a shipping container door kit requires at least two people. The process is similar to installing a roller door in a permanent building, with a few extra steps:

  1. Have a qualified professional cut an opening for the door using appropriate metalworking tools and safety equipment.
  2. Add a door frame around the edges.
  3. Install your door as per the roller door instructions for your model.

Please note that our shipping container roller door kits do not include door frames or tubing.

The short end of a shipping container is 2438 mm; most doors are slightly smaller to account for the tracks. You can also put a shipping container roller door on the long side. We offer widths from 2550mm to 5400mm, with custom sizes available on request.

Standard shipping containers are 2260mm high, while high-cube containers are 2896mm high. Openings are shorter to account for the space where the rolled-up door rests. We provide doors in heights from 2200mm to 4300mm.

Cutting an opening in a shipping container will somewhat affect the structural integrity, depending on the size and position of the hole.

Taking care of your shipping container door can help it last longer and function better. Every six months, we recommend:

  • Cleaning the door with mild detergent in warm water, immediately rinsing after
  • Inspecting all parts for any sign of wear or tear
  • Lubricating the springs with grease or oil
  • Performing a balance test

You can install multiple roller doors on one shipping container, but keep the structural integrity of the unit in mind.
